If you are self-employed or a partner in a trading partnership and have been adversely affected by the coronavirus then you may be able to claim the above grant from HMRC.  This can be claimed from 13th May 2020. More information can be found using the following link:
From here you need to check if you are eligible by using HMRC’s online tool.  Please do this as soon as possible as you will need to set up your own government gateway account, if you do not already have one.  In order to do this you will need your unique taxpayer reference number (UTR) and your National Insurance(NI) number.
HMRC will not pay the grant without you first having a government gateway account.
We regret that HMRC will not allow Weaver Wroot to do this on your behalf, it must be done by you, the taxpayer.
Please take the time to read the guidance as it answers lots of questions you may have. Once you have used the online tool you will be told if you are eligible for the grant and HMRC will contact you next week to make your claim. If you are informed that you are not eligible you can ask HMRC to look at this but only after you have used the online tool.
Please remember that the grant is liable to both income tax and National Insurance and will need to be shown on your 2020/21 tax return so please keep all of the details.
Should you have any queries please contact either the office or your Accounts Manager directly.
